Flat-iron Cottage sits on a hillside overlooking Wirksworth to the hills beyond, approximately 20 minutes gentle strolling from the town centre and a 15 minute stroll from Saddler's Cottage. A single bedroomed, extremely quaint, triangular cottage arranged over three storeys it sleeps 2. The nearest pub is about ¾ mile away. All other services (and several more pubs!) are available in the town centre. Warning: this cottage has low ceilings! The cottage is just 5 minutes walk or pedal from the High Peak Trail, the first disused railway to be converted into a public bridleway in Derbyshire. The trail now links to the Tissington trail and various other green lanes and tracks giving great access to the wonderful Derbyshire countryside.

| | Lower Ground Floor: The dining kitchen with its' beamed ceiling (6'6") has been completely refitted with a pine kitchen and has a microwave oven, gas cooker, fridge freezer and a slimline dishwasher. The Denby dinner service has 4 place settings so you don't run out before you fill the dishwasher!

A small lobby leads under the stairs to the shower room and this is fitted with a washing machine. | |  | | The shower room is also refurbished. This fully tiled modern shower room fits into the point of the triangle. The shower is specially designed to make best use of the available space and is big enough for 2!. | |
Ground floor: The entrance area or paddle room as we call it, is designed for dealing with wet weather gear, drying laundry, hiking boots etc. We have even included a folding storage rack for 2 bicycles so you won't have to leave your bicycles on the car overnight.
| | The sitting room is a cosy room with a log burning stove set in a stone hearth. This room also has a beamed ceiling (7'0), and is furnished with a 2 seater sofa, an armchair, TV and DVD player and a small selection of DVDs. You will also find an old flat-iron on the hearth, but we do supply an electric steam iron too so it is just for decoration! A light room with windows on three sides it has a lovely view across Wirksworth. Stairs lead from the sitting room to the bedroom. | | | |
| |  | | First floor: The bedroom is partially carpeted to reveal the wooden floor (no stilettos, please), and has a four poster pine bed with an orthopaedic double mattress and a king sized duvet. There is a chest of drawers either side of the bed, clock radio and a large built-in wardrobe with hanging rails and shelving. The deep window sill has been cushioned so you can enjoy the view across the valley in comfort and there is a small bookcase with a selection of reading material, including books on birds and wild flowers. The ceiling in this room is normal height.
